Vlad The Impaler

Vlad The Impaler is a play that tells the history of both the Romanian prince himself, and also of the first ever spin doctor – the pretender to the throne, his younger brother. Although it can be quite a feat to pick out all of the themes shot through this production, the performers’ turns were impressive. It’s a cast of three telling the history of an era and a complex political time, as the written word is introduced and the true concept of ‘his-story’ came into being. It is a lot to get into one hour though, resulting in a show that felt overly ambitious in its aims, but engaging when true to a singular tale.
