Police investigating the rape of a woman in Worthing have returned to the scene.

The 25 year old victim was attacked on a footpath on Whitebeam Woods at around 12:25am on Saturday June 13th.

Officers say the assault was carried out close to the basketball court opposite the junction of Romany Road and Walnut Tree Walk.

Detectives returned to the area late last night speaking to people who may have witnessed the incident.

Earlier this week an appeal was released for any shops or households with private CCTV who may have recorded the attacker leaving the woods.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Rymarz, from Sussex and Surrey major crime team, said: “We need the help of the local community to identify and trace the offender so they can be arrested.

“Although we have visited many of the homes close to where the attack happened, there could be people who were in the area at the time but who do not live there.”
