Cancer Is pants: Zumbathon to help brighton mum

Zumbathon to help Brighton mum receive ground-breaking cancer treatment in Germany

Louise Howes, a Brighton mother of 4, has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and needs to go to Germany for dendritic cell therapy which can extend her life but is unavailable in the UK. Her family and friends have organised a fund raising Zumbathon this Saturday to raise money for the #CANCERISPANTS campaign, which was set to raise awareness and to help fund Louise’s treatment.

‘Team Lou’ hope that the dance fitness party at BHASVIC Sports Hall, Dyke Road, Hove, this Saturday (July 4th) will help them to exceed their initial fund raising target of £50,000 and enable Louise to travel to Germany for 4 treatment sessions at a specialised clinic in Gottingen.
The Zumba Marathon, led by Federico Bedoya, will run from 2.30—5.30pm. Anyone wishing to take part can do so by paying a suggested donation of £20 on the door (concessions for students etc) or in advance at www.cancerispants.co.uk There will also be great prizes on offer for those who raise the most in sponsorship money. People are welcome to come to any part of the 3 hour event and in line with the theme of the campaign, participants are also encouraged to dance with pants on their heads!!

Ella Howes, Louise’s daughter, says: “We are expecting an event full of fun, love and laughter, raising money to help my lovely, amazing Mum get the treatment she needs.”

Louise comments: “My diagnosis has been devastating for us all but as friends and family know I am not the sort of person to take it lying down. My family still need me and I am determined to be around for them for as long as I possibly can. But to do this I am going to need help.”
