Sir Ranulph Fiennes : A Life At The Limits
Last time I checked explorers tended not to come from council estates or poor families. As was the case with Fiennes whose blood line goes back many generations and born with the shiniest of silver spoons. However the man himself is a self-deprecating, dry, driven, stubborn, slightly deranged yet grounded individual. His countless feats makes you feel completely inadequate for a life wasted. Yes he’s crossed both poles, found lost Arabic cities, climbed Everest and travelled the length of the Nile… oh and sawn his frostbitten fingers off, was thrown out of the S.A.S., run mega marathons and raised tens of millions for charity. I’d say that was a life lived to its fullest.
