Micachu and the Shapes

If you get on board with Mica Levi’s finely controlled dirgey music, the rewards can be rich and the live experience is no different. The set was tight at around 45 minutes and felt like even less; the lolloping intricately drummed rhythms and trebly clanging guitars melding perfectly with keyboards to forge a unique sound. Mostly focusing on new material, the songs were all strong. ‘Oh Baby’ was the highlight in fact with underwater keyboard stabs and a slow pace straying almost into the realm of balladry. Fan favourite ‘Lips’ was the only song of the encore, but with such inventive musicianship the audience didn’t need this set to be prolonged.
