The Tubes

The arch-satirists of shock rock were celebrating their 40th anniversary and amazingly four of the five original members remain intact. Frontman Fee Waybill slinked on dressed as a 40s gumshoe and kicked off with a brace of well-chosen 60s covers before a cop show medley covered his first costume change. The two hour show covered most of their 70s classics and some of their 80s power pop but the appearance of Waybill as Quay Lewd in foot high boots and stuffed spandex was the highlight, spurting out ‘Boy Crazy’ and ‘White Punks’ before returning as himself for a rocking encore.
