Kid Creole and The Coconuts

The Lifeboat Party pulled into port and Captain August Darnell proved himself to be the consummate showman. With three Coconuts and a funky six-piece band the stage was a tight fit, but in his trademark zoot suit the Kid was part Cab Calloway, part James Brown and delivered hit after seamlessly segued hit to an ecstatic crowd. The energy from all members was infectious and they seemed to be having a ball with much sauciness from the leader reciprocated by the multi-talented Coconuts. The finale featured a costume change and some justified “no brag, just fact” rapping on ‘Wonderful Thing’. Supremely entertaining.
