Sussex students get set for A-level results day

It’s d-day for students across Sussex with A-level results soon being released.

17 and 18 year olds from across Brighton and Hove will be discovering their fate as they open their brown envelopes.

Early indications suggests there will be a drop in the top A and A* grades – particularly in the science subjects.

But whatever the outcome, attention will soon be jumping to September where aspiring teenagers will go to university, an apprenticeship or take up other employment.

In 2014:
Bhasvic College – 99% pass rate
Varndean College – 98% pass rate
Worthing College – 97% pass rate

Advice for students seeking advice following results

The key message from experts is not too worry – especially if your results were not as expected.

Didn’t get into your first choice?
– Ucas clearing will have advisors on hand, especially if you didn’t get into your top place universities. They will find alternative universities offering a similar course, in 2014 61,000 students found a place through the clearing system.

– Just because a university degree seems like the norm-it isn’t!
There are loads of apprenticeships in Sussex offering practical skills, you also get paid during the term of the training.
