Police to take tough stance on people heading to Brighton festival

Thousands of party goers will be making their way to the Waterhall this Saturday for Shakedown.

The annual event will see the performances from Sub Focus, MK and Example plus many more.

But those attending are being reminded by the police not to fall foul with the law.

Officers say they are taking a zero-tolerance policy on drugs as sniffer dogs try to decipher illegal substances being taken in to the site.

Chief Inspector Katy Woolford, who is leading the policing operation, said: “We have been working hard with the festival organisers to plan a safe event for all those people visiting Waterhall this year.

“There will be drugs dogs on the gates and amnesty bins for any illegal substances and New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) will not be allowed at the festival either. We will not tolerate any unacceptable behaviour, through drink or drugs, and anyone not acting appropriately will be ejected by Shakedown security and could be arrested by police officers if offences have been committed.

Dedicated buses will be leaving from the Old Steine from 11:00am and transporting people back to the city centre after the event finishes.
