BREMF – Cipriano de Rore 1515-1565 – Workshop Day
The informal concert that concludes an amateur workshop is never expected to be perfect but there were some moments that very nearly were in this 40 minute recital of complex, multi-part polyphonic works by Josquin de Pres and Cipriano de Rore. Of course, this is what you’d expect from such experienced choral singers. They had dedicated the whole day to thorough rehearsal under the strict and illuminating direction of Deborah Roberts, who also runs workshops on behalf of the Tallis Scholars. It became a splendid celebration of the double anniversary of one of the most important composers of the Renaissance.
