Nothing puts toddlers off theatre like the words “keep still!” This show from Spanish company Imaginart actively embraces their physical energy and restless curiosity, as the children interact with images projected onto a white floor. These are engagingly cute and accessibly abstract: a family of ducks, spinning flowers, waves that wash ashore brightly coloured hearts. With gentle motions and warm smiles, the lone adult seems to be coaxing the animations to play – and the children naturally follow. A soundtrack of chilled orchestrals and 8-bit electronica, plus a little white suit for each participant, completes the immersive experience. If only more UK companies would learn that early years theatre isn’t all about bums on seats.
