My Dining Hell – Jay Rayner

Apparently we all, or at least over 130 of us not watching the final of ‘Bake-Off 2015’, love a bad review, says Jay Rayner, who writes so well. His adult presentation, laced with acid examples of how his own work is lambasted in Twitter and the press (especially when they are badly spelt), is witty, precisely scripted, perfectly synchronised with his audio-visual concoctions and ever so slightly old-fashioned, perfectly suited to his animated audience. Preaching to the converted, he shared some pretty excruciating dining experiences in a hilarious mix of Schadenfreude, sniggering and belly laughs – done to a turn.
