The Guardian Live Football Weekly

This live version of the popular podcast saw James Richardson joined by Brian Glendinning, Iain McIntosh and Paul MacInnes discussing the latest football news on stage at the Dome. The evening took some time to get going, with slightly slow and awkward stand up stories not landing in the first part. There were some funny moments, such as the poignant image of Brendan Rodgers quietly drifting out to sea, but the timing of the evening was muddled. An unnecessary interval spoiled the momentum, and the rapidfire way in which issues were discussed meant that we missed out on natural, attention grabbing conversation. There was only one bit of tactical insight into Jürgen Klopp’s working from defence for example, and although the evening was enjoyable, it was somewhat rushed and poorly structured.
