Street Food rocks in the Sussex Food & Drink Awards

The first ever Sussex Street Food of the Year competition, part of the Sussex Food & Drink Awards’ tenth birthday year, will be open to the public in Lewes, Cliffe High Street, on Sunday 25 October 11am-4pm.  Entrance is free and organisers are urging people to come along and buy lunch from their choice of ten of the very best street food vendors from across the county who are converging in Lewes to compete for the Sussex Food & Drink Awards trophy. There will also be live music, a local beer bar and a market of award winning local produce to enjoy. Said Paula Seager, co-director of Natural Partnerships CIC which runs the awards, “The hugely successful Lewes Octoberfeast may have finished, but that doesn’t mean the foodie fun is over, please bring along your winter appetites and tell us your favourite – the public vote will count on the day!”Garden Grove Pizzeria

MasterChef: The Professionals winner Steven Edwards will lead the judging alongside sponsors Hepworth & Co Brewers and Food Rocks as well as leading food writer Andy Lynes, for this new category in the awards. Finalists involved in this event include Garden Grove Pizzeria from Brighton, Garlic Wood Farm from Steyning, Boca Loco from Arundel, Jah Jyot from Southwater,
Sussex Charmer on Toast from Rudgwick, Sussex Lamb from Horsham,
The Little Blue Smokehouse from Crowborough, The Pig & Jacket from Lewes, The Troll’s Pantry from Brighton and Mama C’s from Eastbourne.

The three Grand Finalists will be announced on the day and all will be invited to tenth birthday Sussex Food & Drink Awards Banquet on 28 January 2016, hosted by patron to the awards, Sally Gunnell OBE and Danny Pike from BBC Sussex.  Tickets are now on sale for this very special awards ceremony which includes a spectacular seven-course Sussex produce banquet created by Sodexo Prestige at the Amex Stadium.
