BREMF – ‘Vision’ – Niamh Cusack (narrator), ‘The Telling’

You wouldn’t expect excitement from 12th century chant but ‘Vision: The imagined testimony of Hildegard von Bingen’ was full of surprise and delight. Hildegard’s traumatic and ecstatic 81 years were most sensitively expressed in speech and in Hildegard’s own elaborate spiritual songs, stylishly realised by ‘The Telling’ (sopranos, Clare Norburn and Yvonne Eddy with Leah Stuttard on medieval harp, supported by three ‘Celestial Sirens’ Kat Carson, Blue Pin and Silvia Reseghetti). A most spectacular and inventive light show, tastefully designed by Natalie Rowland, illuminated the church’s Gothic vaults and detail. We enjoyed an hour looking through the gates of heaven!
