A long time ago in a galaxy ha, ha, away…

This weekend will see no shortage of incredible outfits from the depths of time, space and ingenuity as Comic Con Brighton arrives for a few days. Because we are a city of remarkably creative people. And because we are such creative hosts the fun does not need to stop just because the Metropole Hotel has closed its doors for the day. Saturday sees your chance to catch the marvellous show from Paul Jones – The Nerdfather.
Fandom is frequently passed done from generation to generation, like travelling companions in Doctor Who. The faces may change but the passion stays the same, and each generation think that they’re the one who really discovered the magic first. Or at least, that’s what Paul Jones probably hopes. The Nerdfather takes an hour to tell the tale of one Dad going to extreme lengths to share his passions and loves with his possibly nonplussed offspring. As Jones says; they say you should never meet your heroes but nobody said a word about making your kids meet them.

Jones is something a master of props and multimedia, as well as a devoted dad, so this is perfect place for all us nerds, geeks, war lords, assorted superheroes and monsters of the abyss to gather and pick up a few parenting tips that refuse to compromise any of that magical passion.
Another well-timed show for the Comic Con fans is this Friday’s One Man Breaking Bad – The Unauthorised Parody. After a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe in August, LA actor Miles Allen’s compression of six bad ass seasons of Breaking Bad into one single show has set tongues wagging and fans raving. Travelling at breakneck speed through plot points and uncannily accurate renditions of all the iconic characters – that’d be Walter White, Jesse, Saul, Skyler, Hank, Walt Junior, Mike and Gus Fring – tickets have been selling fast.
And to round the weekend off there’s Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse, back at the Brighton Centre due to popular demand for a second date within weeks. Bringing all of their characters and dressing up back to you. Have fun.
