Blowers & Baxter: Rogues On The Road

For those with no interest in cricket, Test Match Special (or TMS) on Radio 4 won’t mean anything to you. For those that have it means the world. And so with a captive audience of cricket lovers, our eponymous duo (Henry Blofeld – commentator, Peter Baxter – producer) took us on various trips down memory lane, some decidedly saucy anecdotes (normally involving a ‘lovely’ lady and/or a bottle of plonk) and one or two close shaves with authority/ psychotic dictators. The word ‘cad’ doesn’t quite do Blofeld justice, he is, as the title suggests, a rogue. But with rakish humour, a glass half full mentality and a carafe of scotch to see them through, the pair deliver a very enjoyable romp.
