Brighton’s Arty: Alison Krog

A Multi-Dimensional Challenge

This week’s column is going to be shorter on words, and try to cram in as many images as possible. Because, let’s face it, who wants to read what I’ve got to say when you can get a taste of what will be on show at Naked Eye in Farm Mews for two weeks from 11 December.Simon-Dixon
But which artwork can I tempt you with? Because the new exhibition ‘Dada + 8’ features (unsurprisingly) eight pretty amazing and completely contrasting approaches and styles. Alex Binnie, Simon Dixon, Chris Kettle, David Levine, Paul Ostrer, Joseph Rossi, Jim Sanders and Sarah Shaw have all been given the same dimensions – 1.5m by 2m – in the gallery to display their creations, which range from screen-printing, oil painting and gothic collage to black and white photography, steel art, mixed media and more. With such a multitude of artistic forms, you’ll be spoilt for choice. And if you can’t afford an original, there will be loads of lovely prints for sale as well.
Don’t miss: Have you schlepped around the AOH Christmas Festival yet? It’s well worth the shoe leather (and the perfect excuse to treat yourself while taking the pain out of present shopping). With so many of our favourite artists taking part, it’s impossible to single any out (but I’m going to any way). So shout outs this week for the Chevalier House, featuring Anne French, Agnes Chevalier and Hiroko Lewis, and the divine glass work by Stephanie Else in Beaconsfield Studios.
