A Viennese Strauss Christmas

This was not a straightforward classical concert, rather an attempt to get us in the Christmas mood. Maestro Fraser Goulding conducted the British Philharmonic Concert orchestra which gave us some wonderful romantic waltzes by Strauss and modern Christmas classics too. The songs were performed by soloists Andrew Forbes Lane, Jeremy Peaker and Marilyn Hill Smith whose graceful soprano brought sparkle to the evening. It tended to go from the sublime to the ridiculous, as the beautiful songs were interspersed with comedy. MC Malcolm McKee delivered some corny jokes that are normally only found in a budget cracker. But as it is Christmas I will forgive him.
