Jason Isbell

Although not a household name, enough fans were on the ball to sell this show out weeks in advance. Their reward was an evening of well-crafted, blue collar alt-country and stomping Southern fried rock typified by the title track of the new album ‘Something More Than Free’ right back to the twenty year old feud song ‘Decoration Day’. A talented wordsmith aided by a band that was unobtrusive on the warm ballads but came to the fore for the stadium sized-power of ‘Super 8’, Isbell showed his Muscle Shoals roots on the soulful organ-led numbers. A truly class act.
