Roots Manuva

The gig was completely sold out, heaving with fans, and yet, the crowd were restless throughout. Rodney Smith did not seem to be on form for this gig. Even with his trademark grumbling, lethargic vocals as a given, the lyric was too muffled to catch. Performing with a live band was a brilliant compliment to the vocal work Roots Manuva brought, and the artists had a great dynamic between them, interacting with one another and taking enjoyment from their musicianship. That was a real pleasure to watch. A show with lots of potential but not cohesive and uniting from the audience perspective.
