Dane Baptiste – Reasonable Doubts

With support from the rising star Tez Ilyas, who set the tone beautifully with well constructed gags slyly interjecting the political with the personal, Dane Baptise demonstrated just why it is we are unlikely to see him again in a room this intimate. Polished, softly spoken yet commanding of every single person’s attention, playful and intelligent, Baptiste draws attention to doubts in a time when all certainties seem somewhat terrifying. It’s a glimpse into his own ‘diverse’ experiences, honest and skilfully assembled to communicate with the broadest of audiences without personal compromise and with a marvellous humour. A fine balancing act proving the naysayers it can be done, and admirably so.
