Dick Tracy
Based on the classic newspaper strip by Chester Gould, and slightly on the Warren Beatty film, this clown show is a cut above the rest. When “Big Boy Caprice” is released from jail he’s determined to reveal to the world that the crime-busting, yellow-coat-wearing, obsessed-detective really is a Dick. With an impressive and versatile set, and well-designed masks for the rubber-faced gangsters, the show packs the appropriate visual punch. The second half ramps up on the solid first, with lots of fourth wall breaking and silly songs (there’s a wonderful Les Miserables pastiche). A righteous slapstick romp for all-ages with guaranteed laughs.
