Toast
Toast seams like a strange title for a play set in a bakery, until you realise it’s a metaphor for the bakery itself. Can it survive the 1970’s in the face of modernisation and possible sabotage?
This was proper, old school theatre. Seven blokes cursing (and be warned they swear a lot), scratching, bitching and seemingly at odds with each other but pulling together in the face of adversity. A reminder of what working class actually is. It was gritty and honest with a great cast lead by Matthew Kelly. A definite must see and a superb evening of theatre.
