The Birthday Party

Ever endured a nightmare birthday? Put yourself into the shoes of Stanley Webber – the Harold Pinter classic The Birthday Party arrived in Eastbourne with all its crypticism and macabre comedy. This revival of a twentieth-century classic is fresh and brings to life an innocent birthday party in a humdrum boarding house rocked by the introduction of two sinister strangers into Webber’s world. This production from London Classic Theatre was absorbing, it was extremely polished with some very haunting performances from Jonathan Ashley as Goldberg and Declan Rodgers as McCann. A brilliant version of a Pinter classic.
