From cement works to Eco-village: plans for 2,200 homes in Shoreham

An abandoned cement works could be turned into an eco-village with 2,200 new homes.

South Down Project has unveiled a £1.3 billion pound proposal for Shoreham Cement Works which would see the creation of a new village called “Erringham”

    Anything which improves the eyesore that has been Shoreham Cement Works for more years than I can remember has to be a plus. So many houses and businesses will inevitably lead to some traffic issues on what is already a dangerous stretch of road however, so the infra structure of the development will have to be thought through very carefully. But this would be such a good use of what is ugly and damaged land at the moment I would be very much in favour. Although I live in Lancing rather than Shoreham, I travel past the Cement Works several times a week travelling to Partridge Green and Henfield.

  2. It depends what the intention is in the long run, but dare I say, every time I drive past the cement works I feel it is long over-due to do something with it. So it could be an amazing project with the ‘right’ intention and NO wildlife (and the rest) suffering!
