John Robertson’s The Dark Room

With The Crystal Maze’s recent live comeback and a new version of the Knightmare touring show doing the rounds, this was the perfect time for Aussie stand-up, WWE live blogger and general oddball John Robertson to bring his anarchic take on eighties gaming nostalgia back to Brighton. Screaming like a B-list fantasy film thespian on steroids, Robertson’s malevolent interactive text-based adventures led his knowing audience in circles of increasing strangeness. The Dark Room’s small cult following were present and correct, hollering the requisite catchphrases and obscenities, as somehow this repetitive attempt to leave a fictional dark room remained fresh and, most importantly, fun.
