Sussex Police to investigate claims of fraud in 2015 general election

Sussex Police have opened an investigation into claims of fraud relating to 2015’s general election.

A number of forces nationwide are investigating the alleged breach of spending rules after the Conservatives won a surprise majority in the national poll.

A complaint has now been made locally by the Lewes Liberal Democrats.

Former Lewes MP Norman Baker, who lost his seat to Conservative Maria Caulfield last year by 1,083 votes, said the complaints were “serious and substantive”.
