Warren’s comments are what disappoint. It is wrong of him to big up what they planned. What they planned was to put just 40% of the current Carnegie service into a residential area in a failing museum by adding an extension onto the back of the Brooker Hall converted house and combining both functions in it. No parking anywhere and way off the beaten track. Even the tea room is closing this summer due to “lack of footfall”. The perimeter plantings border is neglected, filled with bindweed, nettles, couch grass. Progressive cuts to both the parks and gardens and museum budgets mean this site too must surely be up for eventual sale and diposal too. It is not earning its keep.
