Brighton Philharmonic Summer Season, Jeremy Young (piano) Daniel Bhattacharya (violin) Peter Adams (cello)

The season began with John Ireland’s expansive ‘Phantasie Trio’, full of rich tunes and dreamy moments. Then followed two exquisite works by Robert Orledge, the concert’s Brighton Connection. His ‘Sérénade pour violon et piano’ developed a 12-bar scrap of melody by Debussy into an impressionistic gem, shimmering like late afternoon haze. The thrilling heart of this concert was the first performance of Orledge’s enchanting ‘Le Jardin clos et merveilleux’, a tonal montage depicting a French garden with an insistent, gentle beauty. We were released from our reverie by Mozart’s virtuoso Bb Major Piano Trio K502, almost a chamber piano concerto.

Don’t miss this fantastic season’s remaining concerts, 5.00pm 17 & 31 July and 14 August.
