Kid Creole & The Coconuts

Now an annual attraction on Madeira Drive, Kid Creole’s show transcended the ’80s revival scene with his bold and brassy, hot and sassy jazz-tinged pop classics. From the sun-kissed soca flavoured opener ‘(No More) Casual Sex’, it was a playful, gently saucy show. The terrific band, featuring many long serving players, were given room to show their skills as many songs were extended into funky jams featuring Nile Rodgers style guitar mixed with sassy brass solos. August Darnell remains a great frontman and revelled in his role as he flirted with Coconuts and audience alike. A hit-filled two-hour party session.
