Blithe Sprit
Blithe Spirit is Noel Coward’s classic comedy about spooky goings on among the middle classes. Plenty of credit must go to the props and lighting departments for providing some very special effects. It is also a wonderful comedy of manners. How does a man cope with two warring women; his current spouse and his ex-wife, who just happens to be dead? Watching posh people unravel is always fun. Enter Judy Buxton as batty medium Madame Arcarti to raise the dead and steal the show. It’s a gift of a role and she has a ball, swooping about the stage like a brightly coloured bird of paradise.
