John Grant

In a near-flawless performance John Grant treated the audience at the De La Warr Pavilion to a set that ran the gamut from heartbreak to comedy, with some of the most danceable self-analysis around for good measure. Ably supported by Holly Macve, whose ethereal voice makes her one to keep your eye on, the level of musicianship was impeccable from Grant and his band. Each song surprised lyrically; they never went the obvious route. Who else would name an upbeat love song Disappointing? John Grant is on the form of his life and did not disappoint in the slightest.
