Cleaning Up

This week I have mostly been considering ‘home’. It started because I woke up on Saturday and blitzed my flat. I’m not very good at housework. I find it difficult to separate the different tasks and so it turns into one great big snowball of jobs to do that is just insurmountable… and so I bake a cake instead. This time, however, I woke up with the intention to vacuum the flat – what with the weather warming up and so threatening clothes moth season – and to change the bed linen. The second is thankfully not as infrequent a job as the first.
Those were the only jobs I had in mind, but my momentum soon built so that I was flipping the mattress, hammering in picture hooks and hanging handmade gifts, as well as putting into order long left shelves and tabletops. I got carried away. It became a game. Which is the best way I find to get anything done.
There was no cake, but there was a fully clear and clean table with which to share dinner with my friend a couple of days later. So very grown up. Which we all know is the biggest game.
