Comedy: Boom town
Boom town
One of the main reasons Brighton is such a great city for comedy is Jill Edwards. The comedy coach has been running courses teaching stand up comedy in this city for over a decade, with graduates soaring to success on TV and radio, garnering accolades, and receiving international success. It’s pretty neat.
Since arriving in Brighton, Edwards’ has seen former students including Seann Walsh, Angela Barnes and Romesh Ranganathan pepper television screens, joining those she’d taught earlier in London, notably the king of panel shows, a certain Mr Jimmy Carr.
Every month we are treated to Edwards’ own night, Comic Boom, mixing up some of the best up and coming live comedy talent with an incredible headliner – the next being John Hastings. This month we have the added bonus of two showcases of some of Edwards’ current crop of advanced students, with both shows playing on a single night, each hosted by Barry Fearns. See the stars of the future and glimpse their origin stories. At a very reasonable price too!
