Review: Dinner At The Twits

What a treat to enjoy an evening of Roald Dahl created for grown ups and not grown downs. From the excellent pre-event cocktails we drifted into the Twits’ garden for tasty but revoltingly named canapes and drank a nettle infused G&T – until Mr and Mrs Twit are announced by the scary monkeys.

This experience is beautifully designed by Samuel Wyer and the whole achieves very high production values indeed, executed to a very high standard. Emma Brünjes has done a superb job and Emma Earle’s direction is sharp and pacy. Top marks too for a stunning musical soundscape by Dom James. Chris Barlow as Mr Twit is truly horrid, brash and vulgar, exactly what is required. Lizzy Drive is magnificently awful as Mrs Twit, taking vile to new levels that had us laughing and cringing at the same time. A toast to them and to this whole food and theatre experience. Very entertaining.
