Maybe I’m Amaze’d

Brighton is very good at doing fundraisers. Some are small and some are big. Big Cheer For Amaze is big.

Now in its sixth year, this fundraiser for local charity Amaze has become a calendar-marker as the charity’s close relationship with Baby Cow Productions has brought in some of the best names in comedy to support the event. And this year is no exception.

Already filling the bill you’ll find the brilliant Angela Barnes (interview on p10), joined by Joe Lycett – hot from Edinburgh Festival accolades and his various and many television appearances, as well as the remarkable and repeatedly receiver of five-star reviews Adam Riches. And the line-up hasn’t even been fully announced yet.

It’s a testament to the clout this charity has. Amaze supports local families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and also seems to have a great eye for rising talent as well as the established stars. Previous shows have included Steve Coogan, Nick Helm, Jenny Éclair, Noel Fielding and Seann Walsh – so book now before all of the tickets go when the full listings are announced.

Big Cheer For Amaze, Thursday 6 October, Komedia, 8pm, £17.50
