Jo Neary Does Animals and Men

Demi-ditzy Neary is something of a Brighton institution and this show was very much playing to a home crowd. A show of two halves, the first consisted of the consummate character comedian’s Edinburgh Festival piece, which rattled through the A to Z of everything in a slideshow that was the perfect antidote to all PowerPoint presentations. Peppered with quirky impressions and characters Neary then took us on a nostalgic trip through her student days studying VPA (Visual and Performing Arts). Cue: hilarious interpretative dances and dodgy songs. There’s not enough stand-ups doing this sort of heartwarming silliness and Neary does it very, very well.
