Comedy: Three’s company
The big, the small and the ‘under-the-radar-sneak-peek’ are the order of the day.
This week kicks off with Romesh Ranganathan arriving with his new tour show ‘Irrational’ at the Brighton Dome’s Concert Hall on Tuesday. He’s come a long way from throwing raps at a free new act show in the Hanover pub, with a new series of his acclaimed BBC series Asian Provocateur in the works and his misanthropic smile to be found on panel shows across the TV landscape. Versatile and with his own true comic voice grumpily coming through, this show explores Ranganathan’s own rational worldview.
The weekend sees the return of Laughing Horse’s Big Saturday night after a summer absence. With a collection of respected and away from the mainstream comics – including Sarah Bennetto and Sameena Zehra – as well as a late license in the bar below with discount drinks for comedy punters, it’s an affordable and enjoyable welcome to autumn.
And finally, Jon Richardson’s Work In Progress gives a sly peek behind the curtain of this delightful comic’s working methods. Already sold out, if you can find a ticket – hang on to it and enjoy the rare treat.
