Dogs Trust: Best In Show
Dogs Trust opens pioneering upcycled charity shop in St James’ Street, Brighton
Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity unveiled a brand new flagship store in Brighton last week. To mark the occasion, VIP’s (very important pooches) from Dogs Trust’s nearby Shoreham rehoming centre will came along to help shoppers sniff out some up-to-the-minute fashion finds and vintage pieces. Customers also had the opportunity to be styled by members of staff, who shared their favourite outfits of the day on the charity’s Instagram page @dogstrust.
This exciting new venture is a departure from the charity’s 28 existing traditional shops across the country, and will act as a one-stop shopping destination for stylish Brighton shoppers and their fashionable four-legged friends – whether they’re Vogue-du Bordeaux, sophisticated Staffies or Dalmatian’s du jour.
Second hand doesn’t mean second best – whether we’re talking about clothes or the 17,000 rescue hounds Dogs Trust cares for
With a variety of bespoke fixtures made from upcycled materials including chrome dog bowls transformed into unique light fittings, concrete flooring to help keep doggy customers cool, and a woodland design area made from natural materials, it’s set to be the most stylish second-hand shopping destination that Brighton has to offer. There are even hidden dog silhouettes dotted around the store for shoppers to spot as they search the rails for up-to-the-minute fashion and one-off vintage finds.
Katy Warren, Dogs Trust Charity Shop Area Manager comments:
“After months of planning and preparation, we are delighted to be opening our one-of-a-kind Dogs Trust charity shop here in Brighton. With upcycled interiors, industrial finishing and innovative design touches, there will be something for every stylish shopper and their four-legged friends to enjoy, as they peruse the rails for exclusive fashion finds.”
“Whilst we’re all about making this a cool and unique shopping experience, we are also promoting an important message. Second hand doesn’t mean second best – whether we’re talking about clothes or the 17,000 rescue hounds Dogs Trust cares for across its 20 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Ireland, including one in nearby Shoreham.
Rescue dogs can bring so much joy to the lives of their owners, and Dogs Trust will care for a dog for as long as it takes them to find a loving home. All funds raised through the sale of items in the shop go towards giving the furry friends in the care of Dogs Trust the best level of care possible whilst they await a loving new home.”
