So if, like me, you remember the world before the internet – when people actually looked at art rather than turned their backs to it and stared up at a selfie stick – you’ll love the celebration of Ian Miller now at the Corridor Gallery. Actually, whether you’re generation X, Y or Z, you can’t fail to be awed by Ian’s glimpse into a darker world, rich with surreal imagination. He’s one of the cohort of artists whose vision shaped horror, fantasy and science fiction art in the ‘70s and ‘80s. But where other artists of these genres look for a muscular realism, Ian’s work stands out – transcending illustration – and the uniqueness of his approach pulled many fantasy and gaming publications into the realm of art.
