WAVE: Beautiful Ink

As a skin clinic offering scar treatments, it’s very important for me to fully explain to clients what can, and indeed can’t be improved by my treatments. My most popular scar treatment is MediTatu®, from my initial skin needling training I developed this treatment with the help of my clients sharing their results and feedback, often quite candidly.

“MediTatu® is the most advanced micro needling, essentially bringing new life into scar tissue. A digital tattoo machine precisely stimulates damaged skin, allowing it to re-heal with less trauma, and prescribed aftercare optimises results.”

Acne Scar

It’s very important for a potential client to understand this cannot be a scar removal service, even surgery cannot promise this, however the look, feel and function of scarred tissue can be greatly improved, no matter how old the scar is.

What happens after treatment?
• New tissue grows in the damaged skin
• Loose and sunken scars and stretch marks begin to fill and firm
• White, purple and red scars normalise
• Raised and bumpy scars smooth and flatten
• Tight, restricting scar tissue softens and relaxes
• Numb areas of burnt or scarred tissue can begin to have feeling

So can you improve my scar?
The simple answer is yes, but it really does depend on a client’s expectations, and of course there is a minimum price per session of £150. Small scars are often harder to improve than large scars, purely because on a large scar, any improvement is more easily seen and felt. And particularly when on the face, any scar is still clearly a scar until it disappears, and that’s unfortunately unrealistic for most people.

This facelift scar was white and shiny, however my client followed aftercare advice and exposed the area to the sun daily, the scar gradually faded and naturally re-pigmented. It’s worth noticing this facelift scar has quite a jagged edge, allowing it to blur away, self injury scars and many operation scars have a smooth ‘cut’ edge. This type of scar cannot blur away, but the colour can still normalise, with raised and sunken areas smoothing. The trouble for clients wanting colour to normalise (to not look so noticeably white and shiny) is the requirement of exposing the area to daylight, regulary, for a couple of weeks after treatment. Colour naturally returning to the scar is due to melanin growing withing the new tissue, this happens more readily for those with darker skin or easily tan.

Red, pink and purple scars usually respond well to MediTatu® treatments, this is why you hear of skin needling treatments working well on acne scars. MediTatu® is the most advanced and precise skin needling treatment, treating each and every scar individually, not damaging the surrounding skin.

Thin skin and stretched red scars such as this one from arm lift surgery, begin to firm up and the colour normailise as the skin thickens. If there was any tightness felt in the scar, this can also begin to relax, allowing easier movement.

A particular honour is treating scars caused by burns. I normally offer the initial consultation by phone, but with burn scars pre-treatment is normally required, so a separate consultation is arranged. With this burn scar on my clients leg, not only was it indented and very hard, it had no feeling. After a month of pre-care, my client reported the scar was already beginning to have feeling, and after the first MediTatu® treatment there were distinct areas of skin that had some ‘bounce’.

So scars can be improved, and a client being excited or hopeful for results is much healthier than a client expecting certain results. At Beautiful Ink there is only me offering treatments, and taking your phonecalls, so honesty really is my policy. Give me a call and we can decide if I can help with any scars you may want improving.
