BREMF LIVE – Ensemble Hesperi
BREMF LIVE! Is a marvellous launch-pad for aspiring performers and this duo, Mary-Jannet Leith (recorders) and Thomas Allery (harpsichord), are aiming for the top and getting there fast! Their Baroque programme was engaging and very well thought through. It comprised quaint airs from Scottish James Oswald, a complete Telemann sonata, two Couperin lollipops and ‘La Cesta’, a fascinating and unconventional work from that murderous Italian, Pandolfi Mealli. The rapport between these players was obvious, as was their infectious enjoyment in the music. I’ve every hope that they’ll be much more involved in future BREMF seasons. I’m looking forward to it!
