Peaches

Peaches, flanked by a couple of dancers, bursts from the stage with a booming voice over an often intense backing track, in flamboyant costumes. It’s a mammoth performance, giving everything of herself and her body, leaving little room for the audience not to be impressed. This is in the vein of north American rock’n’roll and heavy metal, from 1970s
Kiss to Lady Gaga; via Burning Man. This is stadium rock without the stadium, yet is never crass because it is tempered by all coming out of her own suitcase, literally and figuratively. Her message is a pronouncement on sexual liberation, challenging sexual normality and mediocrity. She works hard to shake things up. The three simulate sex, strip off most of their clothes, and produce an enormous inflated penis. With sharp hard hitting lyrics, and the various props and antics used to get the message across, she tries to get away with whatever she can get away with, and does.
