BREMF – Springtime for the Pian’e Forte – Trio Goya

What has a programme of Classical chamber works to do with an early music festival? Authentic performance is the key, and Trio Goya is among the best around to play sounds most like the composers themselves knew. Maggie Cole’s delicate but oh-so-expressive fortepiano gave a fresh and crisply articulated brilliance to Piano Trios by Haydn and Beethoven. Beethoven’s ‘Spring’ Sonata with Kati Debretzeni (violin) was also much brighter than usual. The novelty of the programme was Diabelli’s enjoyable Gran Sonata in D with Sebastian Comberti (cello). In bright November sun, the Ralli Hall became a Viennese salon for the afternoon.
