Brighton’s Arty: Worth the wait

the-courage-of-desire

There are always three cheers at Arty Towers when a new Brighton gallery is announced. So great to hear that Art of Treason has opened its door on Gloucester Road and will be boosting the local art scene with work from the best cutting-edge artists from Sussex and beyond.

Every surface is covered in drawings and paintings

Owner Mark Jones is setting the bar high from the start. His launch show ‘The Glory Of Imperfection’ is by the inimitable Jim Sanders – the artist’s first solo exhibition in five years. This is a rare treat as Jim works obsessively, producing a phenomenal amount of work, but rarely releases anything for sale to the public. Having interviewed him a few years ago, we can testify that his house is truly a living art shrine with every surface covered in drawings, paintings, and various strange objects for work in progress.

If you’ve never experienced ‘Outsider Art’, don’t miss this opportunity. Until 10 December.
