Super Furry Animals

For this 20th anniversary show the ‘Furries’ played their debut and, some say superior, second albums in order, complete with idiot boards advising which side of the LP they were on and slot machine-style screens displaying abbreviations of each song. S4W introduced a singalong ‘Something 4 The Weekend’ and ‘Bad Behaviour’ merged Beach Boys harmonies with Glam Rock riffs. Following a tribute to fallen collaborator Howard Marks, there was an atmospheric ‘Demons’ before the Baggy-flavoured set highlights of Radiator Side Two’s chuggy guitars and dirty synths. Fellow countryman Meilyr Jones’s youthful energy and beautifully crafted pop songs provided a perfect opener.
