Days may be getting longer but winter is far from over. Here are our tips on keeping your pooch in tip top condition.

• Brushing
Regularly brushing – short or long haired breeds – helps keep the mats at bay, promotes coat regrowth and keeps the skin healthy.

• Bathing
Keeping your dog clean is a great way to keep a look out for sores in the skin and lumps or swellings. With the rise of ‘Alabama Rot’ the best advice is to remove any woodland mud from the coat and skin of your dogs after their walks.

• Paw and nose care
There is a lot of salt about in winter. Be sure to check your dog’s pads and nose for dryness and cracks. Use a balm to help keep them just the way nature intended.

• Keep warm & be noticed
While dogs have their own fur coats it’s not always enough. A coat or jumper can be just the ticket for keeping them cosy. LED collars or lights and reflective elements to collars, harnesses and leads will ensure your dog is noticed on dark evening walks.

• Eat well
Just like us, a balanced diet goes a long way. Feeding a complete meal is a great step in keeping healthy this winter.
