Man dies in sea during last night’s heavy storm

A man has died in the sea following last nights heavy storm.

Rescue services scrambled to save the man after he was seen walking into the freezing water near King’s Road Arches around 11:30pm.

A police spokesperson said he was pulled form the water around 1:40am but CPR attempts to revive him failed and he was pronounced dead at the Royal Sussex Hospital.

A woman who was with him jumped into the waters to save him but managed to get out the sea to raise the alarm without succumbing to the waves.

Last night saw high winds, high swells, fog and rain – making the search and rescue mission difficult.
