Brighton and Hove Councillor faces disciplinary hearing over tweet

Cllr Nemeth faced a disciplinary hearing today after tweeting that the leader of the council lied about Hove library last July.

Councillor Nemeth, a Conservative member for Wish ward tweeted, “personally witnessed Councillor Morgan lying about Hove Library”.

Councillor Nemeth appear on our current affairs show ‘The Vote’ last year to discuss the issue..

The leader of the council made a formal complaint in September when he became aware of the comment. In a letter of complaint he stated, “I would argue in the strongest terms that I conducted myself throughout the Hove Library discussion in good faith and never knowingly misled or lied to members in that process.”

Councillor Nemeth has said that he had collected witness statements from a council committee meeting, an article by Councillor Morgan, and a Labour leaflet.
